In order to achieve board-certification in periodontics, Dr. Andrew Barnett had to spend many years studying dentistry and perfecting his oral surgery skills. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Michigan, he went to the University of Pittsburgh to receive his Doctorate in Dental Medicine and finally returned to the University of Michigan to complete his residency. He might have a “terminal” degree, but Dr. Barnett is never done learning and continues to keep up with the latest techniques and technology in his field. He also participates in continuing education courses and is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Barnett’s specialized education makes him uniquely qualified to provide dental implant treatment, regenerative therapies for periodontal disease, soft tissue grafts, bone augmentation, impacted tooth extraction, and so much more. He decided to become a periodontist because it combined his passion for artistry and science with his love of helping people, and is happy to say that he feels fulfilled each and every day! You can trust Dr. Barnett not just to provide effective periodontal solutions, but to also get to know you so he can deliver a perfectly personalized treatment plan. When you visit Park Lane Periodontal and Dental Implant Group for care, you’re more than a patient – you’re family!
You might be wondering how a University of Michigan graduate ended up in Texas. Dr. Barnett found Dallas attractive for its vibrant culture, growing economy, and family-oriented lifestyle. He and his wife, Mariya, are proud to be raising two young boys in East Dallas! When he’s not at the office or spending time with his family, Dr. Barnett likes to golf, travel, and cook – especially when it comes to practicing his grilling and smoking skills.

Dr Barnett and his staff are very friendly and helpful. They handled my Perio needs thoroughly and professionally, and we shared some good laughs as well. The new office is beautiful with brand new up to date dental chairs and equipment. And there are plenty of places to eat and shop within walking distance after your appointment! 5 stars all around

To find a dental implant dentist, you will need to do your research to determine what kind of process you are okay with pursuing. While many dental professionals provide in-house, start-to-finish care, others refer patients to periodontists or oral surgeons in the area.
When searching for the right professionals, you will want to do a Google search with terms such as “dental implant dentist near me” or “dental implant dentist near Vickory Meadow.” Once you see the narrowed list of options, you can begin visiting each website and reading the bios that discuss their educational and professional backgrounds.
Dr. Barnett is highly qualified to provide dental implant treatment because he has achieved the following credentials and is part of various professional organizations:
Getting a tooth pulled without dental insurance may be between $150 and $400. There are different factors your periodontist will need to consider, such as the type of tooth being extracted, its location, whether it is a simple or surgical extraction, and whether you will need sedation in addition to local anesthesia.
You can expect our Park Lake Periodontal team to discuss the factors with you during your consultation and discuss ways to minimize your out-of-pocket costs if you are without dental insurance. This may include flexible financing.
Affording complex dental care from a periodontist doesn’t have to be impossible. There are different ways to pay so you stay within your budget. First, if you have dental insurance, make sure to use it, as our team will be happy to file the necessary paperwork and claim forms to ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement.
If you are without dental insurance or need help paying your remaining balance, you can also apply for flexible financing through CareCredit or Cherry. With little-to-no-interest plans available, you can spread your payments over time (6, 12, or 36 months or more).
To be a periodontist near Vickory Meadow, you will need to earn a bachelor's degree in a math- and science-heavy major, earning high scores so that you can enroll in a dental school in the U.S. Most dental schools are at least three years, which will lead to a DDS or DMD degree.
Once you complete your degree, you will need to pursue additional education and training to become a periodontist. This can take several additional years before receiving your certification. If you want, you can also pursue board certification.
To maintain your licensure, you must be committed to taking various continuing education courses and accruing a certain number of hours each year.
